Juanito, un niño apasionado por el cine, encuentra en las películas un refugio mientras la Guerra Civil española desgarra su entorno. Hijo de padres pacifistas, crece en un hogar marcado por ideales de paz y la lucha diaria contra la miseria y la enfermedad de su madre. En su camino, forja un vínculo con brigadistas internacionales que también comparten su amor por el séptimo arte. Pero la realidad del conflicto lo obliga a tomar una decisión difícil que transformará su vida, cerrando las puertas a la infancia y llevándolo hacia una madurez marcada por el dolor y el aprendizaje, donde el cine sigue siendo su faro en la oscuridad.
